Where is LAK?
Lak district or more referred as Lăk Lake is a famous destination of Daklak province, Central Highlands of Vietnam. From Buon Ma Thuot City, Daklak’s provincial capital, drive southward on the smooth National Road 27, about 50km, 1 hour, you will arrive at Lien Son Town, Lak district. If you keep driving for another 160km, 4 hours, you will reach Da Lat hill station.
Once in Lien Son Town, you find your way to Au Co lakeside road or Xuan Huong street at the foot of Bao Dai hill. There are sign of LAK Tented Camp parking and boat pier. A short 10-min boat ride on the picturesque Lak lake will take you to LAK Tented Camp. To avoid waiting, please call the reception at 0262 6255 552, about 30 minutes before you get to the boat pier.
How to Travel to LAK?
By plane
The nearest airport from LAK is Buon Ma Thuot Airport (Code: BMV). Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Pacific Airlines, Bamboo Airways serves daily flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and Da Nang. The flight takes from 45min to less than 2 hours.
Upon landing at Buon Ma Thuot airport, you may take a taxi for LAK or book a private transfer with us for smooth driving of 50km, 1hour. The cost varies from 550,000d to 700,000d per trip, per car (5-7 seater).
By bus
There are many bus companies offer quality bus services, “Limousine” sleeping bus to Buon Ma Thuot City, departing from Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Da Lat and other provinces (Kontum, Pleiku, Da Nang, Hue…). Except for buses coming from Dalat and a few exceptions coming to Lien Son town, Lak district, most of the case the bus will drop you in Buon Ma Thuot City.
From Buon Ma Thuot City, you can take private transfer, taxi with nearly same distance as from above airport. Or you can take public bus #12 Buon Ma Thuot to Lak and get off at Lak Post Office Stop. See above instruction map to find us.
There are overnight buses from Ho Chi Minh City to Buon Ma Thuot or LAK, which take about 8 hours driving. The price varies from 240,000d to 380,000d/passenger. Please check Mai Linh, Kumho, Tien Oanh,etc.
By motorbike, self driving
The best way is to locate us on google map, at following link.
Alternative to parking near our boat station in Lien Son Town, you know have the possibility to drive directly to our eco-lodge, using the backroad. It is recommended for motorbike, 5-7 seater car only and please call us in advance for updated guidance.Special note for self driving from Ho Chi Minh City to LAK
After arriving at Binh Duong, we recommend taking the road via Cong Xanh junction then follow DT741 to Dong Xoai roundabout. From Dong Xoai, continue with national road QL14 via Bu Dang, Binh Phuoc to Gia Nghia City, Daknong province. From Ho Chi Minh City downtown to Lien Son town, Lak District is about 330km. It takes 8-9 hours driving at permitted speed. Please follow below map for reference. From Gia Nghia, you will have two options. First option to follow QL14 until Buon Ma Thuot, if you want to visit the city first. Then from Buon Ma Thuot to Lak lake, via QL27, 55km further. The second option is to turn to QL28 and find your way to Nam Kar as shown in the map. You can shorten the driving distance around 75km. Please note that there are some broken road about 5km before Nam Kar bridge, and 15km after Nam Kar bridge. It is passable for car though with careful driving.
